Acknowledge: Day 1
So acknowledge today and take to heart that the LORD is God in heaven above and on the earth beneath; there is no other.
Deuteronomy 4:39 NRSV
Thought
Part of adjustment is acknowledgment—that is, recognizing or perhaps admitting, even owning—that the death of your loved one is permanent. No amount of wishing or desiring will ever alter this irrefutable reality. As you adjust in grief, you acknowledge that you cannot undo what happened. The death of one you love is perhaps for a while a daunting challenge to your faith. Take heart. God is in heaven above and on the earth beneath.
Prayer
God, as I grow and acknowledge the permanence of my loss, I know that no other than you understands my heart. Amen.
Assurance
Emboldened by faith, I acknowledge both what is lost and what is left.
