Comfort: Day 5
Who is like you, God?
Though you have made me see troubles, many and bitter,
you will restore my life again;
from the depths of the earth
you will again bring me up.
You will increase my honor
and comfort me once more.
Psalm 71:19-21 NIV
Thought
Comfort is not a one-time fix. In grief, your need is for repeated comfort—again and yet again. With each expression of comfort, you experience a momentary peace. Comfort relieves your pain; comfort affirms and restores your life. Comfort brings you up again from the depths of grief.
Prayer
God, as you comfort me anew each day, I am grateful that you build me up, even as you restore my life. Amen.
Assurance
Comfort builds on comfort; comfort grows from comfort.
