Emotional: Day 3

Wait for the LORD; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the LORD!

Psalm 27:14 NRSV

Thought

Because grief defies an exact moment, your instinct may be to ignore it rather than enter into it. Some who have experienced the death of a loved one choose simply to hang on mindlessly until grief is over. In fact, you do not enter into grief. Grief enters into you. You move from “Why did this happen?” to “How will I go on?” You experience disbelief and shock and then the reality of life without your loved one as you move into acceptance and on toward the end of grief.

Prayer

God, I wait on you with new strength and courage. My heart waits for the end of grief even as I know you continue to teach me its wisdom. Amen.

Assurance

Grief does not come with instructions on how long it lasts or how long I should grieve.
