Experience: Day 1
The sun shall no longer be
your light by day,
nor for brightness shall the moon
give light to you by night;
but the LORD will be your everlasting light,
and your God will be your glory.
Isaiah 60:19 NRSV
Thought
Christmas lights symbolize the festival. Each one is a brilliant celebration of life. The reality of grief is that the death of your loved one has darkened your life. At Christmas, darkness seeks the light and becomes the light. The light of promise that there is yet life beyond grief shines within your darkness. Christmas is about the light of the world, God’s love illuminating your darkness.
Prayer
God, you are everlasting light. At this Christmas season, may I actively seek your light within the darkness of my grief. Amen.
Assurance
I will live in the bright glory of God’s eternal light.
