Forgiving Others: Day 1
“Do not judge, and you will not be judged; do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven.”.
Luke 6:37 NRSV
Thought
Successfully completing the work of grief requires some basic emotional and spiritual housekeeping. With a stiff new broom you carefully, meticulously sweep every corner of your heart for unnecessary emotional debris. You dust for cobwebs of the past, collecting and clearing out stale resentments, messy ill will, judgment, and condemnation. You air out the room that is the rest of your life, restoring order and tranquility to the space of your soul. Grief is a unique opportunity to start fresh.
Prayer
God, the cause and effect of forgiveness is a dynamic of life and grief. I am grateful for the grace to forgive others, even as I am forgiven by you. Amen.
Assurance
I will forgive others as well as myself.
