God's Love: Day 4

In this is love, not that we loved God but that he loved us.

1 John 4:10 NRSV

Thought

As the Creator, God loved you first. You love God in response to the love that God already has given. You cannot trump God’s love through works or good deeds. You cannot out-give God even when you give your best. Though it is sometimes a temptation of grief to ignore or reject God, God’s love is unconditional and resolute. Receive God’s outpouring of love.

Prayer

God, your love is so incomprehensible. I give you thanks that you loved me first and that all I must do is receive. Amen.

Assurance

God’s love precedes all life.
