Grief is Acceptance - Perspective

Return, O my soul, to your rest, for the LORD has dealt bountifully with you.
Psalm 116:7 NRSV

Thought

In grief, the order of life becomes the randomness of reinventing life without your loved one. Perhaps for a while you feel like the reluctant resident of a deserted, unfamiliar island—a strange place, unfriendly to its habitation by your soul and spirit on the journey through grief. Acceptance is moving beyond the turmoil and total upheaval of death to a life reordered in peace. Stand, at last renewed and made whole in the assurance that there is life in acceptance because there is life after death.

Prayer

God, you have moved me from the pain and sorrow of grief toward acceptance and new life. I give thanks that you have dealt bountifully with me. My mind reawakens to life, my body is at rest, my heart contemplates joy, and my soul abides in you forever. Amen.

Assurance

My acceptance is the doorway to new life.
