Life: Day 3
I know, O LORD, that the way of human beings is not in their control,
that mortals as they walk cannot direct their steps.
Jeremiah 10:23 NRSV
Thought
Grief is an experience that disables your sense of control in life. Perhaps one of the most sobering realities of death is that you are not in control. You are not in charge of anyone or anything except your own attitudes and emotions. No matter how much you loved the one whose loss you grieve, you could not control either life or death. God is God. God is in control. God is life. Trust in God. Trust in life.
Prayer
God, I have learned through the experience of grief that I am not in control of anything except my own spirit. Thank you for the lesson of trust. I must trust you for direction in my life. Amen.
Assurance
I trust in life because God is in control.
