Life: Day 4

Teach me knowledge and good judgment, for I trust your commands.
Psalm 119:66 NIV

Thought

An intrinsic part of trust is obedience. You expect a child or a dog to be obedient, but spiritual obedience is a seldom-praised discipline reinforced by grief. After all, grief is not only a journey of the heart; it is a life-learning experience in trust. You learn, in the words of the old familiar hymn, to “trust and obey.” Or perhaps you learn knowledge and good judgment, and then you obey and trust.

Prayer

God, I trust your commands. In grief I have felt your call to obedience and trust. I am grateful for your trust of knowledge and good judgment. Amen.

Assurance

When God commands, I obey in trust.
