If you fish or know someone who does, perhaps you have seen the moment of release when a line is cast upward and outward. It hovers for a moment over the surface of the water until gravity inevitably forces its descent into the unknown depths. Similarly, when you cast your burden on the Lord, this is the casting motion of grief. You release your pain and the remnants of grief in a moment of exquisite trust in God and in life. Grief is cast Godward in certain trust that God is at the end of the line.
