Many who grieve find comfort in praying for their loved one as an act of communion. All Saints’ Day commemorates the spiritual certainty that those who believe live on, perfected in heaven. Some denominations speak of believers as saints, whether living or dead. The Apostles’ Creed declares, “We believe in the communion of saints.” We pray for and with living saints in this life; we pray as well for and with those saints after mortal life has ceased. On this day observe the communion of saints in the fellowship of the one lost to you in death.
