Prayer: Day 5
The LORD has heard my supplication;
the LORD accepts my prayer.
Psalm 6:9 NRSV
Thought
Friends and family assure you that they are praying for you. If you feel unable to pray, you may allow the prayers of others to carry you for as long as you feel disconnected from God. It is not so much that you are unwilling to pray; when you grieve, often you are unable to offer more than the simplest expression of prayer. Through prayer, as in grief, you grow spiritually; you are transformed and renewed. When you, in turn, pray for others, you abandon self-involvement and acknowledge spiritual needs beyond the horizon of your own grief.
Prayer
God, I know that you hear my prayers. Thank you for accepting my prayers, however disjointed and simple they may be. Amen.
Assurance
When I pray, I surrender my will to God’s will.
