Reconstruction: Day 2

“For which of you, intending to build a tower, does not first sit down and estimate the cost, to see whether he has enough to complete it? Otherwise, when he has laid a foundation and is not able to finish, all who see it will begin to ridicule him, saying, ‘This fellow began to build and was not able to finish.’ ”
Luke 14:28-30 NRSV

Thought

Throughout the journey of grief, likely you have considered from time to time what it would take to rebuild your life. Are you willing to expend the effort for an unknown future? Do you have the stamina, discipline, and will to complete personal reconstruction? Are you influenced by the judgment and opinion of others in rebuilding a new life of your own design? Do you have the determination to work at your own pace toward some unknown completion date, perhaps sooner or maybe later? When you have a foundation, you are ready to rebuild.

Prayer

God, I prayerfully wonder whether I have what it takes to rebuild my life. I question my energy, resolve, and even the length of my life. With you as the foundation, I begin in faith. Amen.

Assurance

I will sit down, estimate the cost, and then build my life anew.
