Self: Day 1
The LORD is my strength and my shield;
in him my heart trusts;
so I am helped, and my heart exults,
and with my song I give thanks to him.
Psalm 28:7 NRSV
Thought
One of the most unsettling effects of grief is the sense of a loss of trust in yourself. You may be unused to change; you may be uncomfortable with new demands on your physical and emotional resources that cause you to question yourself at every turn. You feel, perhaps, that you cannot trust your own decision-making abilities or that you are unable to care for yourself sufficiently. A loss of self-trust is a temporary state in grief.
Prayer
God, you are my shield. I am grateful for the help of your strength when I do not trust myself. In you my heart trusts. Amen.
Assurance
God is trustworthy. I rejoice and give thanks.
