Self: Day 2
But I trust in you, O LORD;
I say, “You are my God.”
Psalm 31:14 NRSV
Thought
In the aftermath of acute grief, you understand your sense of personal mistrust when you consider what trust really means. In grief trust means releasing fear. Trust means training your mind away from chronic anxiety. Trust means acknowledging that your understanding of life and death is the only thing in your life that certainly is insufficient. The rest is a matter of trust—in yourself and in God.
Prayer
God, I better understand the distinction between the personal mistrust of grief and the trust it takes to live in your sufficiency. You are my God. I trust in you. Amen.
Assurance
As I release mistrust, I learn to trust again in myself.
