The Past: Day 5
You will forget your misery;
you will remember it as waters that have passed away.
Job 11:16 NRSV
Thought
Having been through the trauma of the death of a loved one, likely you have moments of personal pain and misery that still whisper in a corner of your heart even as life grows away from the past. Your helplessness in the face of illness and death, words said or left unsaid, and the pain and sorrow of grief can be attributed to the ebb and flow of waters that are, at last, gratefully passing away.
Prayer
God, there are thoughts of past misery that linger in my soul. I pray that those memories will pass away as waters flowing away from the horizon of my grief. Amen.
Assurance
I can choose to live without remembering the misery.
