Worry: Day 2
“Can any of you by worrying add a single hour to your span of life?”
Matthew 6:27 NRSV
Thought
Worry is a non-productive use of your precious mental and emotional resources. Normally your life is probably more about concern than worry—concern for others, concern for daily responsibilities, concern for yourself. In grief, concern easily escalates to worry. Yet worry cannot add a single hour your to life; on the contrary, worry has been proven to shorten life. Worry has no beneficial effect, yet it is a real part of grief. Worry is defeated by persistent trust in the care of God.
Prayer
God, it seems that worry is part of my every thought since the death of my beloved. It is not like me to worry all the time. Still my mind to receive your Spirit. Amen.
Assurance
God is larger than my worry.
